Statement on November 3 rd School Board Election
“This week’s election was a landmark moment in Chicago public education and represents an opportunity to build a school system that is more responsive to the needs and aspirations of students, families and communities. We look forward to working with President-elect Biggs and the new Board as they take on the important work ahead.
Effective CPS governance is a cornerstone of CEA’s Chicago Education Action Agenda. We believe strong school governance depends on meaningful community participation and decisions informed by the experiences and perspectives of those most affected by them. CEA is committed to helping connect community voices with Board members and ensuring those perspectives are heard and considered as decisions are made. Sustained community engagement will be essential to realizing the promise of an elected Board.”
